Exhaust "Q"... do I add High Flow cats or not?
Exhaust "Q"... do I add High Flow cats or not?
I am on the verge of purchasing a new Corsa Cat Back setup for my single cat 1995 T/A. My motor is stock as is my exhaust sytem.
If you could buy any cat back setup what would it be?
Do any of you recommend swapping out my OE single cat (52k miles and to date no issues w/ it nor have I had any check engine lights) for an "Off Road" Y-pipe or Y-pipe with High Flow cats? Suffice to say I will have to get one with the O2 bungs.
What are your thoughts, expirences with brands ideas etc...
Much appreciated!

You need a tune if the exhaust is burning your eyes with no cat. Even if you have a cat, it won't last very long before it will need replacing if you are running rich enough to be burning your eyes and smelling gas with the cats off... maybe your O2s are shot also.
I went with 2 high flow cats..
I read that you need 2 cfm's of air flow to support 1 hp... and about every horsepower above the the max cfm you lose 10% of that hp.
And this is why the 1996 z28 they picked up about 10 horses going with dual cats vs having 1 single cat.
I went with no cats at first and i hated it. The sound and the smell.. The high flow cats still dont get rid of the gas smell like the stock ones did but they help if you have a high horsepower car. Mine pushes around 480 at the fly so I can justify it.
If your camaro is your daily driver I would leave the stock cat on it.
Go with high flow cats later down the line when your exhaust is really hurting your engine mods...
But until then.. leave it alone
