Exhaust popping

Hey fellas,

Just put a new lt1 into the 95 z28, when I rev it up it sounds fine but when I let off it goes, pop pop pop, kind of loud enough to be annoying. And when at idle I can feel the car shake a little off beat like something is missing, but Im not sure if that's the way it should be, it runs pretty good but even if I get on it while going 85 or 90 and let off the pedal I can hear some popping going on. Any suggestions?

thanks!

Re: Exhaust popping

LT1's have a lotta popping. When I let off the gas it has madd popping with my headers, ory, and magnaflow. I like it though. It's not excessive in my case. If yours is, I'd look into the plugs or wires. Make sure you didn't burn up a wire.

Re: Exhaust popping

I had quite a bit of popping with my Borla but since I've put the cutout on, most of it has gone away.

Re: Exhaust popping

It's normal, don't worry about it.

If it's running fine then there's not really any problem.

Re: Exhaust popping

With borla its pretty normal. I have it, and with an MSD Digital 6 box, so no that doesnt fix it. The only way you can get rid of it, is either playing with the tune (i.e injector constant) or putting a resonator in the exhaust..

Re: Exhaust popping

If its popping when you first start the car its because of the air pump pumping air into the manifolds. Cant explain why beyond that.
Remove the air pump relay and start it to test this cause it is the case on mine.
The popping I get in this situation is very annoying but I would consider this to be normal.

If its popping all the time with the engine warm and the pump off..Hmmmmm
