Re: Exhaust opinion

i heard hookers sound good and perform well but i have the cheapest and most awesome sounding exhaust you can get. i had it on my 93 Z-28. i cut the i pipe about a 1/2 a foot or so after the cat where it bends straight and runs next to the driveshaft. then got an adapter so i could run a 3" bullet off the stock 2.75" I pipe. i put a 3" turndown on the end of the bullet. it dumped just before the rear end. this was the absolute greatest thing i did to the car. i spent about 60 bucks total. people always asked me what kinda exhaust was on it, and the best was at a low cruising speed, it sounded so deep and mean. i had my friend drive it around a parking lot, and from about 100 yards away it sounded so damn good. you have to hear it in person, if anyones looking for a cheap exhaust that sounds awesome do this, you WONT regret it.

That is very simalar to what I am doing execpt mine only costed me four and a half bucks. All I am doing is taking off the the stock "cat back" and I am going to weld a turn down onto a spair flange we have laying around and bolt that to the cat, hopefully it sounds good.

Re: Exhaust opinion

The first thing i did to my car was picked up a hooker, not because i heard it sounded great, but because it was cheap. It did sound pretty good. I ran it for a few months, then just unbolted the muffler. I think the best my cars ever sounded was with stock manifolds, one cat, and the muffler unbolted. After this i attempted to run true duals, thats another story that went really bad and i sold the hooker. Went out and bought a brand new one to throw back on the car with the current off road y pipe, and pacesetter lt's. Sounds alot like a 5.0 to me between 2000-4000 rpm. Some may take that as a good thing, some may not. just my opinoin and experiences. Its a pretty good exhaust if your tight on money and want a full catback.

what was so bad about your TD's? I have heard nothing but praises about how they sound. Only downside is clearence and too loud for some peoples taste.

To start out with i couldnt find an exhaust shop within a two hour drive to touch the car with out cats. The x pipe i bought wouldnt bolt right up to the headers, i dont have a welder, lift, or pipe bender to run my own exhaust. So i was stuck with a x pipe, two stainless chambered mufflers and driving around with open headers. I stuck the mufflers on there, it sounded pretty damn good with the downsides being an extremely loud rattle after you let off the gas, and also the thumping noise of the mufflers slamming into the bottom of the floor board when you hammered on it. I thought there was something loose rattiling in one of the mufflers, so i took them off and sold them to a buddy of mine to put on his truck. Later i came to find out, i had a bad o2 sensor which had something inside of it, kind of like a whistle. It ended up just being a big waste of money, and i had already sold my hooker and macs/ ypipe.
