Exhaust manifold bolt broken.
Exhaust manifold bolt broken.
Did a search and found lots of info. Mine is passenger side, very back. It was broken, and covered with carbon. Found my leak apparently.
Need to stay CA legal, are SLP shorties the only option? And do they not use the back bolt also?
Now to decide if I should pull the heads or not.
Man my wallet is hurting.

you got lucky, ive got one of the ones in the very middle of the driver side snapped off. luckily im havin these heads ported in a few weeks so they have to come off anyways.
if its in the very back, you wont need it with aftermarket headers. slp shorties should work, im not too familiar with emissions though. just get ones with AIR and EGR fittings on them so the tree huggers dont fail you by visual inspection

I have the slp shorties w/ 2 broken off head bolts , one is in the front on the passenger side and the other is in the back on the passenger side. They leak like a son of a bitch not too mention the other bolts keep losening . Its going in on the 17th to have both holes drilled out and repaired. I cant wait
(they are dropping the kmember. gonna have new hoses plugs and wires installed while its out)

SLP is not your only option. Hooker and Edelbrock and a few others (FLP, JBA, others?) make shorties with CARB E. O. numbers.
Hookers do not use that hole and most (all?) other headers don't either.
Don't pull the heads. Headers ane Stage 8s and you'll be good to go.
