exhaust fumes inside

I have an 95 high milage trans am all stock except for a gutted cat and tb bypass my problem is when driving exhaust fumes seep inside the car been going csazy trying to find where its comig from . Irecently put on new manifold gaskets reajusted the y pipes and stuck my nose in every corner of the interior to find where its coming fromno luck.Can a sticky exhaust valve cause this ?Iwouldgreatly appreciate any ideas or input.

It will probably be hard to find it by looking from the inside. I would look for exhaust leaks while its on a lift. Maybe you have a loose clamp or an adjustment needs to be made somewhere. Check the whole length of the exhaust system. You said that you just re-adjusted the y pipe; I would start there.

Could it be you are just smelling more noxious fumes after gutting the cat? Or is this something that just developed recently?

no i can smell the difference its inside when i open door after cars been sitting i can smell exhaust residue.Idid change head gaskets recently at the same time gutted cat because of vibration i fined comed everything except for the egr pipe that connects to the manifold. I smell it more with windows closed cant even find how its getting in.by the way the car is running a little rich .

Do a SeaFoam clean. Your car is due and it will love it. The SeaFoam will smoke like crazy which is great for finding exhaust leaks. Follow the directions and there is a few websites that guide you through (just Google it).

Or, on a warm running engine, pour a little ATF into the intake via the brake booster line and you'll also smoke the exhaust... again, check for leaks. ATF will not harm the system. *A little means half a Dixie cup slowly... don't force it in and hydrolock the engine.
