Exciter wire from alternator HELP PLEASE
Exciter wire from alternator HELP PLEASE
I have limited my charging problem to this wire, where exactly does it go to??? a fuse? the ignition key??? and i know its supposed to read 12 volts when a volt meter is hooked to it, but is it just a switched ignition wire? something that can be rewired with any switched ignition wire?? mine isnt reading 12 volts for some reason but the wire doesnt appear to be cut or anything. PLEASE HELP.

scooby, yes i have ruled out the alternator because i have two identical alternators, both that tested good at Oreillys, but neither that worked when on the car. the battery is brand new and also is the second one I have tried on the car. The wire that runs direct from the alternator to the battery (for charging) is also connected properly, and that little red exciter wire also reads 10-12 volts at the plug with a volt meter with the key turned on. but for SOME reason, this all doesnt come together to work when its all put together on the car. Is there any kind of fuse or something? this is very confusing.
