Ewp And Timing Chain Install Guide

My Opti-spark went out a while back and I am about to buy a new gm unit. I will also be ordering an EWP to free some power up. I have searched and have found very little info on the install. The EWP itself should be very easy, But i am looking for a write up or website that explains how to convert to a Double Roller timing Chain. Can anyone post a write-up and parts/gaskets needed in this process?

For a 96 LT1/4 it'll be a straight forward install, the stock cps wheel must be removed. If you choose to remove the water pump drive (recommended) then you'll have to plug/weld the opening in the timing cover.

Re: Ewp And Timing Chain Install Guide

why do you recommend removing the WP drive shaft as opposed to just leaving it in to block to hole in the timing cover? What is the advantage of this? Also, if you do remove it, should you also block the hole in the block there it was pressed in to not change any oil flow from the lifter valley or is that not a big deal???

Well if you go double roller timing chain you might as well remove it and i'm pretty sure you must remove it. Its also just another source for an oil leak.

so for a 95 its even easier? I don't have a crank sensor! ~yay me. But, should you plug the hole in the block then or not?

The hole in the block is fine to leave open, just plug the hole in the timing cover.
