Everyone get in and post your oil pressure!!!

Ok the stock gauge probably blows, but I'm curious what you guys are reading at idle. Mine is sitting at the first line up from 0, I don't know what pressure that is, but is that acceptable for a 78k mile car with mobil 1 5w-30 at an 800 rpm idle?

Please post:
Oil type
Idle RPM
Gauge level (i guess line on the gauge?)
Pressure if you have a real gauge

I'm planning on getting a dual gauge pod once I get nitrous on the car, probably nitrous and fuel pressure gauges there. And does anyone make a plate that goes over the storage place next to the cigarette lighter? I'd like to maybe stick a oil pressure and water temp there. Any suggestions?

I know this is a weird mixed up thread, but thanks

For one yes that is fine at idle. Mine is at 0 after about 10 minutes(did I mention bearings are gone ) I should put a 450 shot on it and see how that works out for my car.

Quaker State 5W-30
Idles at 1000 rpm
My pressure at idle is at or just below the first bar up, so I would say like 18-20 PSI also.

151k miles idle warm at around 600 and first mark on the bar or slightly above usually castrol syntec 10-30... with synthetic mobil 1 10-30 its usually just a hair below the line in same conditions.

At 850 rpm idle after the engine is warm, mine is about 27 psi (1/3 of the way between the first and second) and is about 45 psi off idle. This is with 119k on the engine and with Mobil 1 5W30.

95 Z28 with Quaker 5w30 and 179,000 runs right on or slightly above the first mark up and right in the middle cruising.

Re: Everyone get in and post your oil pressure!!!

At a warm idle (with an auto, it's like 600 rpm or something) mine is around 18 psi, just below the first line. Crusing around 2k rpm it's halfway between the first and middle marks, around 30 psi I guess. WOT hits about 40, never really any higher. On 10w-30 Dino oil, Havoline so far. 141k miles

If I've been sitting in traffic and my engine is running 215+ degrees and the oil is good and hot it might idle more like 15 psi or so...

I haven't actually measured it so this is assuming the stock gauge is both accurate and fairly linear in it's readings...

Valvoline 5W-30 synthetic
warm idle is 30 psi@950RPM
Cruising 2000-3000 its about 45-50 psi
WOT its a little over the third line(60 psi)

During my morning commute to temple its 60 psi the whole way.Note its only 20 some degrees during the commute and the car sits outside.

Re: Everyone get in and post your oil pressure!!!

wow guys great response thanks a lot!

I was worried about pressure at idle, mine sits right on the 1st line at hot idle with mobil 1 5w-30, after my cam swap. I remember it was just a touch above it before the swap when I used castrol gtx 10w-30. So I guess I'm pretty good for 78k miles?
