ES Trans Mount is Aweful

Just replaced my stock weak trans mount with the Energy Suspension mount. It is aweful!! I read that people have problems with automatics and these mounts, but I have a 6-speed and my whole car vibrates. I feel like I am in one of those chocolate milk commercials, the car is vibrating so much. I guess it is 1LE for me. Where is a good place to grab one?

I've had mine for over 5 years in my auto with no problems. Maybe you should look into fixing the vibration, rather than covering it up with a softer mount. I would look into balancing your driveshaft first. Just my $.02

Get a LS1 or 1LE ds and it will smooth everything out and you won't even remember you have a ES tranny mount.

You think it will loosen up a little bit with time? All that vibration can't be good.

Some people have had problems with the ES mount raising the tailshaft of the tranny too high, which puts the U-joints out of alignment. If this is a problem you can install the mount without the backing plate and/or shim the transmission crossemember a tad. I never had a problem with this but I also installed the poly engine mounts at the same time.

The ES mount also seems to like a break in period where it will soften up a tad.

There is only one GM mount offered now and that is the new LS1 mount, which is similar if not identical to the old 1LE part.

FWIW, I love my stiff mounts, the car is much more responsive... I could just feel the whole drivetrain torque over before

It is rumored that the "one mount" that is available now is not like the 1LE, but like the normal mount.

Some have been switching to an LS1 mount that supposedly has the interlocking feature to keep it from destructing so easily.

My ES poly mount never became softer. Too much for me in a daily driver.

Hmmm... I keep hearing both ways on the GM mount

I can't tell a difference at all between my poly mounts and the stockers when it comes to cruising My *** meter isn't calibrated all that well though.

Why does energy suspension use a backing plate anyway?

I installed one and my car was shaking like crazy. It DOES subside a bit after it breaks itself in. Just bear with it for a while and it wil go away. I found that with the cutout on my car open the transmission shakes less. Probably a result of the loss of torque.

I've been running an ES mount for a while now. No problems with it; and I honestly couldn't tell a difference with or without the mounting plate (though I've chosen to go without the plate; IMO it is unecessary and could be an extra cause for vibration).

Hmmmm mine shakes pretty bad. At about 65 mph it vibrates enough to rattle the shifter button and the button on the emergency brake, it sounds like crap actually. I've got some new tires, when I get them mounted up and balanced if that doesn't take care of the vibration I'll try taking off the backing plate. If that doesn't work I'm gonna try the LS1 mount.

Ok, I have had the ES poly tranny mount on 2 cars my 94 Formula A4 and now my 1997 Trans Am WS6 M6. Both cars felt fine, if you are having vibration get a 1LE or LS1 Driveshaft that will take care of any vibration problems. I installed my driveshaft and the vibration went away but the cause wasn't the tranny mount it was something else. Now it is smooth. Keep the ES mount cause it is a better mount than any you can buy. It will outlast the car its stiffer and that is what you want in a sports car a stiff tight feeling we don't drive caddy's

Adam 1997 Trans Am WS6 M6 has Borla cat back,LT4 knock module,subframes,Hypertech PP+,Hypertech 160 Thermostat,Air foil,Mac Pulley,K&N filter,B&M Ripper Shifter,MSD 8.5MM wires,Energy Suspension Trans mount & Torque Mount,1LE Driveshaft,MBA Silver Shift **** with WS6 ingraved on it,SLP 21mm Rear Sway bar,Viper GTS-R Carbon Kevlar syncros in a rebuilt T-56, Throttle Body Bypass, SLP pressure plate/clutch and a Hotchkis Strut Tower Brace.
