Angry errr bent push rod!!!!

Well finally figured out why my engine isnt running right. I took off pass valve cover and only 2 pushrods are still in there hole!!!!!! I got a magnet and fished two out of the lifter valley and one was bent, does this mean that a valve hit a piston??? Also ive never really dealt with roller rockers but for some reason i think that i was not sent self alighning like i ordered!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a similar problem with my old L98. I forgot to tighten the set screw on one of the poly locks, it backed off a bit and the pushrod fell out and actually broke in 2 spots. Make sure you tightened them.

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

I just looked at some pics of non self aligning rrs and the look like mine. I think because there was no plate under them it raised the lift and a f*cking valve hit a piston. I dont know im just really mad right now.

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

The difference between rockers wouldn't change the lift. If your heads were machined for guide plates and you didn't use any then it probably would. Atleast, as far as i know. I'd get the correct rockers, replace the bent pushrod and run a compression check.

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

You guys think that combination motorsports will just exchange my rrs since they gave me the wrong ones(i think im still not sure what the look like exactly). Im almost scared to take off the other valve cover because i dont want to see more bent pushrods.

Damn i hate working on cars anymore

thanks guys

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

Look at your rockers and then at the bottom of this page.....

http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...g/HTML/311.asp

Then you will know the if they are SA or NSA.

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

Checked the rrs, they are self aligning, guess im just a stupid idiot that cant adjust rockers, even with a guide. So do you all think all i need to do is replace the pushrods or did a valve and piston hit?

thanks

I bet you just didnt have the RRs locked down or have the valve lash set correctly.. possibly too loose.

Re: errr bent push rod!!!!

Lol thats what i was thinking at first. I also thought he might be referring to the "guide" on the SA rocker. Im gonna stick with my first guess though LOL.....

James - What method did you use when adjusting your rockers?
