Cool Eos?

I been around awhile and just found out about the GM Engine Oil Supplement which should be added with each oil change per GM engineers.

Is anyone using this or is this an old school method for the earlier period muscle cars?

Check and see if there is any GM EOS on the shelves as it was referred by to me. Now I'm curious.

TIA

Re: Eos?

It is used as the assm. lube and in the factory oil fill, should be used in the break-in oil of new/rebuilt engine

Re: Eos?

Ive seen it mentioned in manuals, but I can't imagine what it's going to help. Regular oil changes should be sufficient for most situations.

From what I understand it is in all new car engines upon receipt. It seems the GM engineers themselves use it in regular oil change intervals mixing 1 pint to a quart in the last two quarts of oil used as opposed to just entering it from the bottle into valve case. They seem to recommend its use to anyone that inquires about it too for use in subsequent oil changes. What do they know that they're keeping to themselves.

Kinda like GM's version of Marvel Mystery Oil. I just never heard of it after a couple of decades of motoring and hanging in my buddies shops.

Just thought I'd ask here and see if I was the only one in the dark.

Ya learn something new everyday!

Re: Eos?

GM part # 1052367, zinc rich engine break-in oil. Supposedly good for cam wear prevention.

I remember many years ago (1960'-70's) when throwing in a small can of EOS with every oil change was an easy way for the dealer to make an extra $5 on the oil change.
