Engine won't stay running

I'm was just about to finish up a header install but when I got the alternator fitted in and tryed to start the car it will only run fast idle and after that it dies, it only registers 8 volts in the process. It ran great without the alternator attached and with the belt off. Now even with the alternator off it dosn't run and registers 8 volts.

i would say take the alternator in and get it tested to see if it is holding the amperage, i had to replace mine so it could be bad.

What else did you remove when you did the headers?

I re did the plugs, wire and coil and after I was done it started right up and ran. The battery is full charge and registers 12.25 volts but on the dash it shows only 8, there wasn't anything like this going on before the belt was put on. Maybe theres a short somewhere, I don't know what it is.

What is the voltage using a meter at the battery when the car is running should see around 14. Also recheck the wire and connector on the back of the alt. Remove and reinstall them to be sure that they are correctly installed.
