engine troubles- test your knowledge.
please help.
My 93 Z28 has recently been giving me problems. While driving, if I give the engine substantial throttle, the car bogges down, miss-firing. Also, from a stop, it does the same sometimes. Not a problem to start, stays running fine, but begins to act up if enough throttle is applied. I have checked the plug wires, which have given me trouble in the past. I am starting to think that it may be the optispark. Perhaps it has collected enough moisture or oil to be problematic.
I go to school at UF, but am now stuck in Tampa because of this.
Please help. thanks

Mine does the same thing, does it always bog down at the same rpm range? I thought mine was plugs and wires too at first, but doubt it after I change them and they act up in a week.
Check your fuel pressure with a guage when driving.
Take the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and stick the pressure guage somewhere where you can see it while driving. Give a few quick WOT blasts to see what your fuel pressure does.
Check to see if coolant is leaking onto the opti via the waterpump weephole.
Not sure how good you checked the plug wires, but there have been many before who said they've checked theirs "thoroughly" and it ended up being a plug wire anyway. By checking the wires you may have to take them off especially since the pass. plug wires aren't very visable from top or bottom.

I notice you have a new thread with the topic "Car Dies". Are you aware that the "All Ignition" Optis have problems with frequent failures? There was a post on here trying to get enough people to start a class action suit against All Ignitions, because they falsely advertised that their parts were "OEM".
