Unhappy Adjusting Comp Cam Rockers

I recently just put in some new CC Magnum 1.52 rockers and adjusted them all to the proper preload using the TDC method. The car started up fine and they ticked kinda bad until the oil filled up the rods and lubed it all up. Now they have a slight ticking and I usually adjust my rockers with the engine running so I know each one is dead on. The problem is that the rockers have little to no room for a socket to be on there. With the engine running it's impossible for me to get a socket on there and adjust them. It kicks it out each time. So any idea on how I can adjust them properly cause im at a loss how im gonna get that ticking to go away.

I have the comp cam lifters as well. I tightened them down until the pushrod was just barely able to turn. They said those don't require much if any preload.

It will still turn even loaded. re do all of them, and check by pulling the pushrod up and down until the slack is gone. People always tell you something different on lash....

I always go 5/8-3/4 turn on most stuff. I have used as much as 1 full turn on my personal stuff before with great results. That was a stock unmodified factory lifter

K that sounds like a good idea. I knew I was gonna have to readjust them I just didn't think I would have to do the TDC method again. Ty though.

On my stock lifters with comp rockers I adjust them with the engine off. Tighten it while turning the pushrod until I feel resistance, then go another 1/4 turn, lock it down, and go another 1/8 turn or so. Very quite and runs very well. Ive had way better results doing this than with the engine running.
