engine or tranny?

well i have the lt1 engine in my trans am along with the a4 transmission, when the car is in overdrive going up a hill, i step on it and there is really no throttle responce, untill the torque converter kicks in and then it goes like hell. i just dont know if its a fuel problem, trottle or tranny slipping, but when i step on it the engine is still under load and the rpms dont rise, so i dont think its the tranny. all the other gears seem to be fine. any help would be nice and feel free to ask questions.

hrm...not really sure just by hearing that...but sounds somewhat try a new fuel filter...if it still does it...then start checking simple things like air filters...after that, I would start looking at 02 sensors and making sure your cat aint clogged...Mine did the same thing when my cat was clogged...

Re: engine or tranny?

also the temp is ok, it isnt running to high, engine is at 160 mabe a little below, but like i said it runs normal under light excelleration and then when i need to pick up the pace alittle bit it seems like it doesnt really gets moving untill im about wot. and then the tranny will shift out over overdrive and go like hell
ohh and befor i forget the engines rpm's doesnt go up fast like i hear when people say about their transmission slipping. what can this be?

Re: engine or tranny?

IM not sure on that...tranny mount would definitely cause clunking, but losing it at about half throttle? Does it only do it in one gear? or all? WHen you stomp the gas it works fine, but not under load? need a bit more info man...

Re: engine or tranny?

i tihnk that the tranny mount shifted in an improper way can cause power loss up towards the middle, and then when u punch it and the power kicks in the engines torque pops the tranny back to where it needs it to be to get the right shifting and then u get ur kick.

could be, just jack up the car, put it on stands, take the jack but a block on it, and stick it under the tranny. take off the plate and see.
