I've heard of 160* not passing smog.... but that depends on which state you live in. Tends to run richer or high HC counts. That's what I've been told in Cali so I went with the 180* and programmed the fans at 197*

 

Mine smogged at about 20% of allowable limits[in other words CLEAN!] with 160 stat and the fans coming on at 192 off at 185.. No othr probs either[except slightly reduced heat on cold days..]

 

Again, that depends on which state you live in and the condition of your engine. Sounds like you take good care of your ride.
