Engine Temperature

Hey when I drive, and idle for like less than 5 minutes, the needle on the guage goes up until RIGHT below the red, and then cools down when the fans kick in. When I drive on as long straighaway it slowly cools down. Is this normal?

or your fan relays are going bad.if you have the dual fans 1 comes on first then the other at a higher temp.your relay for the first fan may have died.mine did this and it was the main fan relay.
