Engine swap..please help

Engine swap..please help

I have a 1997 Z28, i'm swaping the engine with a lower mileage 1995 trans am Lt1, do i need to change harness and cpu? are they the same, some sensors maybe? what about the obdI and obdII thing?

If you are just swaping the engines. Your pcm will work just fine along with your wireing harness.

95 engine in 97Z

The car is a OBD2 and the 95 engine is from a OBD1 car. The main difference is the front timing cover. The 97 engine will have a provision for the crank sensor. You will need to swap this over in order for it to work.

Knock sensors are also different, just swap those out as well.

Couldn't he also use the 95 PCM and run OBD 1?
