engine swap no crank

Hey everyone,
I just swapped in a 95 lt1 camaro engine to my 96 z28, with obd1 and have used tunercats to turn VATs off along with AIR & EGR, due to long tube headers and no emissions. When I turn the key to run, all the lights come on like normal, security light turns off, turn the key to start and nothing happens, except a small click, from behind the glove box, which does it again when I let go of the key. Starter and battery are brand new, grounds I removed when taking the engine out are hooked up and tight. At this point, I've put so much into it, I don't wanna throw parts and hope it fixes it.
Thanks

Make sure you are getting +12v to the purple wire on the starter when in crank. Also be sure you only put two wires on the starter...the purple wire and the +12v battery cable.

Re: engine swap no crank

The click behind the glovebox is most likely the starter. Do what Shoebox said..I had this same problem and the tiny starter wire (purple) was connected but the thing it connects to was broken..I've been told they are notorious for snapping because they are small and weak. A single bump on the engine block or transmission could cause it to break. They may look like they are good but you should check. Goodluck.

Re: engine swap no crank

I finally had a chance to go test it, there is 12v's on both wires, and they are the only two attached. The pcm ground is not on the start, and tons of thanks for your website, it has been my go to source for remembering things and finding. My guess is relay is no good and needs a new starter. It is new, but still 3 years old, bought it just before it broke down. So close to that point , still had the box and packaging, which I put it back in.

What do you mean? Purple wire was on the wrong starter post?

Yes, it has 2 small posts on the high torque starter. For future reference the top post is the correct one to use on those.

Now working on tuning with it up and running, and figuring out why it says ABS INOP, know the connections are hooked up, because I thought "I should connect those before tightening the K member" then had issues with the bolts and forgot, tightened it, and then fought to get them connected.

You can pull ABS codes using the free software you can download with a link in this thread:

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/com...95-lt1-874306/

You will need a cable, but that is also covered in the thread.

Typically, the solenoid post that goes to the switch lead is marked with an "S".
