It seems like every 2 or 3 times i start my car it runs really crappy for the first like 10 min. By crappy i mean with the clutch let out just normal acceleration in 1st and 2nd it will feel boggy, and without giving it any more throttle, will suddenly jerk you back in your seat by acelerating, then continue to stumble. Could this be the opti? it was the only part i didn't take apart to check when i did my rebuild because i couldn't find the socket i needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. also the car has brand new plugs & wires. thanks in advance

 

That could be the opti. A little more information would be helpful. What was included in the rebuild? Did the problem start right after the rebuild or did it to this before the rebuild? Does it vary with RPM? Does it do this at WOT or just part throttle?

 

The problem started after the rebuild. The rebuild included; timing chain, hotcam, 1.6 bowtie roller rockers, pushrods, water pump, gasket matched the heads to the headers, all new gaskets including head gaskets(obviously), stock pistons and rods with original bore. Does not seem to vary with rpm. and problem also occurs at any throttle. Thanks

Brian, I'm going through the same problem right now. '93Z new HOT cam ect. Same poor driving symptoms,acting the same way "bucking" when cold and rough running untill 2000 RPM. I'm working with MAD Z to solve the problem wer'e making progress but no cigar yet! I guess the MAP sensor engines are difficult to resolve. If I get mine fixed, I'll let you know. I got my tune through alvin at pcmforless and it was doing this before and after the tune. No one else has experienced this problem?? I know there are more than a few of us running the hotcam kit. Any other votes for the opti?

 

i dont have a hotcam (unless the previous owner didnt say...i wish). but i pretty much have the same problem. mostly when cold, most prominent under 2K rpm

 

have similar problems.. different cam. Lite stubling under load at low rpms.

Replaced the o2's and it went away, but it has shown up again.

 

Well, Im' back to the stock chip now. the mail order tune did not work out. same problem. Tried to reduce the fuel pressure to 41 LBs. helped a little.
I am going to try the Megasquirt system, I've heard a lot of good things about it. I know there is going to be a 'learning' curve, but I have to try somthing! Good luck!

 

I would check a few things. First you may have an arching wire. go out side at night with little light and start the car and look under the hood, if a wire is arching there is a good chance you would be able to see it. Also I am just throwing this out there because it happened to me. Check your coil ground wire for a good ground. good luck

 

BTW my guess on my problem would be a leak in the exhaust. 2 possible sites where the drivers side head meets the manifold (bolt closest to the driver broken) or leak where the manifold meets the y...... or thats my reasoning behind getting headers
