engine problems
engine problems
my friend was driving home from work and the car cut off on him going 55 mph. he tried to start the car, nothing. The window wont roll up, the fuel pump doesnt cut on, and the motor will not even attempt to start.
I thought the battery but it charged right up. All the fuses seem fine, grounds look to be tight, and no corrosion on the cables. Maybe someone here can shed some light on this.

Re: engine problems
sounds like the fusible link to the ignition switch burned out. the windows should still work whether the anit theft system is on or off or working at all. it is independant from that. check all fuse links. i believe they come out of that red plastic box near the battery. repair it with the right fuse link and then look for the short. do not rig anything for risk of car burning down. take the car to an electrician if your friend is not too car savvy.
Re: engine problems
yup. the power to the power windows runs through the ignition switch. therefore, if the switch does not have power, nothing with the ignition key on will have power either. the locks and seats are hooked up to another fuse link seperate from the ignition link. if the ignition switch power is lost, your radio should not come on, wipers, signal lights, instrument gauges, windows, starter, a/c, heater, blower fan]..........your headlights, stop lights, interior lights, cig. lighter, horn, seats should all STILL work.
