Engine problem
Here is the problem. Drove my car earlier this week. It started making a squeaky noise somewhere around the tranny or cat area of the floor. I noticed a huge loss of power and also the more you press on the gas the louder the squeak. Tried in neutral and still the same thing, loss of rev time, loud squeak noise, and the damn thing revs only to 3000 rpm then slowly starts moving probably about 100rmp/sec lower after that. In gear it barely touches 2000rpm. My cat had been making only a small rattle, but no rattle anymore. When the squeak noise first happened, I jumped the gun without checking rpm levels and checked my clutch. Clutch was fine. So I started it up again today. I noticed that the car heated up very quickly. After about ten minutes of driving it almost over heating, I got out of the car and looked under the car to see anything. My catalytic converter caught my eye first, the damn thing looked like it was about to burst in flames lol. It was raining today and I move the car and I can see where the heat evaporated the water under the car on the road. I think the catalytic converter is clogged or something. Ow, one other test I did was after 20 minutes, I looked under the car again. I still see the cat making heat waves and so I start to feel the pipes after the cat. They are a little more than cold. So, I was wondering, anybody know whats wrong, cause I do not want to go spending money in the wrong places. My guess is the cat is clogged. My car is a 1994 z28 btw

if the cat is glowing it is a good bet that it is bad. there are some problems that can cause a cat to do this the most likely is a overly rich mixture. the unburned fuel will collect in the cat and burn it up.
Thats the thing tho, there was a rattle, but it doesn't rattle anymore. So I think it is now clogging something.I'm going to try taking off the bolts to the cat and see if I get any normal amounts of flow.
