Engine prep for supercharger

I was just wondering what would you have to beef up on the engine and all in preparation for, say a vortec supercharger. I live in cali so would it still be smog legal? I have a 94 z28 6sp with a few bolt ons, id like to keep it as a project car and build it up to be bad *** but still stay street legal.

The stock compression ratio for LT1 is 10.5, that's too high for a supercharged motor. So the first thing is lowering the CR to 9-9.5. Changing the rotating assembly to forged is a good idea. On a boosted setup you'de want the heads to flow real good especially on the exhaust side.

not to mention a cam shaft that would help this setup.

how much boost do you want to make? You should think about some 23cc dished pistons, h-beam rods, studded mains, a good set of flowing heads, and a blower cam. And of course all the machine work to go with it. That should set you up nicely.
