Engine out the bottom with A/C

I've seen the various writeups about taking the motor out the bottom and I am ready to go that way but I haven't seen anything about what to do with the A/C compressor. Looking at it and it's plumbing from the bottom it appears I am going to have to disconnet the hoses. If so, what is the best way?

Thanks in advance for any help
Tim

You have to do more than just ac hoses to drop or pull your motor, you pretty much have to take every hose and line off; brakes, rad, ac, tranny lines, sensor wires,...... Make sure you evac your ac before taking the lines off. The great thing about pulling the motor from the bottom is that everything can stay on the motor untill its on the ground. Take your time and dont forget the oil sensor wire like I did.

The write ups are straight forward and should be fairly easy to read.

If you want to go to the trouble, it is possible to float the compressor and lines in the engine bay and not open the a/c system. It is a bit of a hassle because of the power steering lines and accy bracket. That stuff will have to come off individually to give you room to do it. If you open the a/c lines, then all that can come off with the engine.

Thanks for the advice. I gues i will disconnect the a/c lines and get it recharged after I put everything back in.

94SLUG - I have about everything else disconnected, a few wires, the passenger side exhaust, and the brake lines and I will be ready to drop it out. It is going to be nervous time when I start to lift the body. I hope I get everything disconnected. I will lift a little, checek a lot, lift a little, check a lot, etc, etc.

shoebox - Yeah, looking at the way the a/c lines and the power steering lines are wrapped around eachother i will just drain the a/c and pull those lines off.

Thanks all

This is an article that I created.

Engine Out Of Bottom

I would do it again, just take your time while lifting the body up, keep checking everything as it goes up.

Good luck.

That is a great job Ken on the engine removal. I personally DO remove the 2 brake lines at the ABS unit and leave the ABS there...It only takes a couple minutesd to bleed the brakes, so I think it is too much hassle to pull the ABS.

I also leave the A/C hooked up and fish that compressor out and let hang.. The bracket for the Powersteering/ A/C is a PITA< but you can leave the A/C charged if you want to, but once again it is a PITA. ..
