Engine oil cooler. question
Engine oil cooler. question
I hear alot of people saying these are a crappy design, and there is a possibility of clogging up stopping oil flow.
BTW, I am referring to the oil cooler that is located on the driver side of the block, above the oil filter.
I'm not sure whether this is an option or not. But as far as i know, this was only available from 93-95? (correct me if i am wrong) Did cars that were not equipped with these oil coolers have any other means of cooling the oil? Or was it just scratched off all together?
Do I need any additional parts in order to remove the cooler? Besides the hose that connects the radiator to the water pump, that is.

Re: Engine oil cooler. question
These coolers have been used on many Chevy's, Corvette's, Camaro's and trucks, for many years. They will not clog if you change your oil on schedule.
As far as cooling they are probably better than nothing but certainly not as good as a seperate air/oil heat exchanger.
I know of no other style of cooler offered by Chevy. "Normal" cars do not have oil coolers.
