engine light mystery

I had it checked and no codes came up. It comes on when I'm going 55 steady. Then it goes out when I slow down. I also noticed that it runs crappy when I've been driving it awhile and I'm in slow traffic. I think thats my opti. I know its worn out. Could that also be why the engine light comes on? Its not firing right?

Could be a lot of things. I wouldnt worry about it too much. If your car is OBD II the codes should be stored, and if the light comes on it throw a code.

I'm told its OBD1 but it has OBD2. He hooked an OBD2 scanner up to it and it just said connection error. So I guess there weren't any codes in it.

Very not true! The scanner did not even communicate with your pcm. Your car is OBD-I and needs an OBD-I scanner with a special cable that connects to the OBD-II type connector that was used on the 1995s. I know it is confusing, but that is the way it is.
