Engine Knock HELP

I've been reading the forum and finally decided to join it when i had this problem show up. On the passanger side of the engine, it sounds like a rocker is hitting the valve cover or something. The engine is completely stock. When you speed the engine up, the knock increase as the rpm does. If you put the car in drive, where the rom drops some, the entire knocking noise stops. I pulled the valve cover off and started the car and it still makes the noise but i do not see any oil squirting ono the rockers. There should be alot of oil coming out right? Inside the car, the oil psi gauge still reads that the engine has great oil pressure. In the passanger side head, there was some sludgey(sp) oil sitting around the front headbolt that is recessed down. Any ideas on whats wrong with my car? Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine Knock HELP

start out by shorting out cylinders to see exactly which one has a problem you can do this using a test light probing spk plug wires, if all ok check compression this is the sure tell of engine wear if any real mechanical problems youll find it thru these steps.

Re: Engine Knock HELP

If it where an automatic, I would say your flexplate is cracked. But then you didn't include any information about the car, the tranny, any mods, any possible work that was done that may have caused it or where the car is located.
