Engine Knock

When I went to start my car Monday morning after sitting the weekend the engine kicked back and broke the nose off of my starter. This happened about three months ago but didn’t break the starter but it did make the starter grind so I replaced it. I exchanged the yesterday and installed the new starter last night. When I went to crank the engine it turned over a small amount and locked up. I then bumped the starter several times until the engine broke loose and fired up but I have a bad knock that sounded like the valve train. I have had a couple of rocker arms and push rods break in the past and last month I had one of my valves come thru the tip of my rocker arm. Each time it sounded like what I have now. I pulled the valve covers off last night thinking that I had another rocker arm issue but everything looked good. I’m afraid I spun a rod bearing. I’m going to try pulling the plug wires off tonight to see if there is any change in the sound but wanted to see if any one else has had an issue like this or if anyone has any other ideas to what it could be. Is it possable to pull the oil pan while engine is still in car and how much trouble would it be?

Sounds like something broke in the bottom end.
