Engine hesitation/buck/misfire?
Engine hesitation/buck/misfire?
I have had this problem ever since I've owned the car (3 years).
After a few minutes of driving the car will hesitate/buck/misfire the more I press on the gas. I have no idea why it's doing this.. I have replaced the spark plug wires, plugs, fuel filter, radiator, head gaskets (they blew), new starter last summer, water pump, and just had a short in my wiring harness which got fixed as well.
The other day I took the car for a ride to try and figure out the problem again. The car will not hesitate at all during the first 10-20 minutes of driving, after that it will start. After a while of more driving, it went away. It would probably come back later but I did not drive that long. It seems to not be related to heat because my temperature was not that hot and it still did it.
I have put so much money into this car trying to figure out this problem and also making other repairs. The car runs great otherwise, any advice is greatly appreciated, I want my car running correctly.

Have you ever checked or replaced the IC module or the coil? Have you ever changed the O2 sensors? Have you ever done a data log of the PCM when the problem is occurring? Have you scanned it for codes? Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Never had the O2 sensors changed. I have never done any scans because I don't have the proper equipment. Never checked the fuel pressure either or to ICM and coil. What is the best way to check these components? Thanks for your help so far.
I chased the same symptoms for quite some time, and it ended up being a bad contact in the ICM connector. The heat would be enough to make an intermittent contact problem. Check the simple stuff like connectors first before throwing money into parts that are suspect.
Are you throwing any codes? Usually a MAF will throw a code. You can get a scan set up pretty cheap and free scan software. I'd invest in this if you plan on keeping the car. I got my cable at http://www.aldlcable.com/ the price was reasonable.
UPDATE: I tried taking my car to advance auto, but they don't scan OBD1 so maybe I'll try Autozone. Today I replaced my Air filter and cleaned my MAF with CRC Mass Air Flow cleaner. Didn't help so I guess thats out. So it seems like its down to the ICM or something else? Thanks for your help so far guys.
