engine flutters & catches, then runs like a scalded dog

My Z28 is 15 years old and lately began to stumble at low RPM. If I shifted into 4th at 35 mph it would flutter as if it had an IGNITION problem...the MAF had never been cleaned in 148,000 miles, the driver side0[SIZE="2[/SIZE] sensor has been weak for months and I replaced it, cleaned the dirty MAF and installed a 1LE elbow replacing the leaky stock one.
Now ~
The flutter is gone,as i the donkey dong and now it out runs all the vettes with no trace of flutter. I am a happy camper .My question: was the flutter caused by the elbow, the dirty MAF, or the 02 sensor?

The leaky elbow allowed air to bypass the MAF sensor, meaning when you accelerated, the MAF reported lower than actual air flow, and the PCM added insufficient fuel for the amount of air actually entering the engine. It was running lean, possibly causing knock retard, and misfires.
