Engine builder screwed off too long, need to find builder in New England now...

Stopped by the engine shop today to see how progress was going, since he said he'd be mocking it up/decking etc. this week. I stopped by his shop at the END of April to tell him "My heads should be done around May 8-11th, but, I'll have all my engine stuff here regardless at that time so that you can get started on the shortblock". There's about a couple weeks notice there to plan for it. (Not to mention that he's had my stuff for a year, just waiting for the heads...he didn't want to do it and have a performance shortblock just sitting around) So, I bring him the stuff on the 9th of May. I'm leaving 1st week of June for a 3 month TDY to New York, so I explained it needed to be done by the end of may so I could get it back togother. I check back a few times "Stuff keeps coming in, I haven't got around to it". What the ****? What makes other peoples jobs more important in this game? I freaking TOLD YOU that I would have it here then, so that we would have PLENTY of time before June to get it done, and fit me in your schedule! Well today he says that all kinds of things have been coming up that they didn't plan on doing. I don't give a ****, my **** has been sitting here waiting. Then he tells me that he kind of pushed my engine back a couple weeks because he thought he had enough time. But, then he looked at my slip this week and realized that I need a Line Bore, which he has to send across town for. On top of that, my Main Studs are nowhere to be found.

So, needless to say, I've now got my block, rotating assemly, etc. and everything out of that shop. I've got to put the Firebird back up on the trailer, and pack as much of these parts into the car that I can, and then find someone up in New England to do the work for me.

What a pain in the *****, I'm so irate.

He's actually had all this crap for A YEAR, but wanted to wait for the heads so that he didn't have a half-built engine sitting around, well pal, looks like you waited too long and lost about a grand.

Could use reccomendations on good builders in the MA/CT/RI/NY area.

Scott Shafiroff comes to mind. If you're willing to travel to NJ or Indiana... well there are quite a few I can think of off the top of my head from those parts.

But yeah, Shafiroff is a very well known builder, not the cheapest but thats the way it goes.

Good luck.

I don't have my heads yet no, should be soon I guess.

Brett Bauer? I think I've seen him on here before. Pretty good engines?

I already have EVERYTHING I need, just need a little machine work, and assembly.

I'm in Rome/Utica, NY.
