Emissions removal question

When removing all emissions junk, should the EVAP (Evaporative Emission)
Canister Purge Solenoid Valve be removed and all connections plugged?

Re: Emissions removal question

If you remove the evap system, you need to provide for some means of venting the fuel tank.... otherwise it is sealed and can build up pressure or pull a vacuum. You may also notice increased fuel smell at the rear of the car. And, when the system pulls the HC vapor out of the canister and puts it in the intake manifold to burn, its helping (if only a little bit ) to improve fuel mileage.

You will get a code for the missing solenoid, unless you substitue the correct resistor in the harness connection. There is also a flow detection switch that will need to be bypass somehow, or programmed out, or that's another SES light.

Not to mention with the built up pressure, unable to vent, causes the pumps at the gas station to kick off every few seconds. So filling up the tank will take a lot longer

I didnt remove my evap from any of my fbody's. This was a 2003 S10, I bagged. Yeah.. moving on.
