Emissions and heads and cam
Emissions and heads and cam
Hey Im planning on having cats and egr and what not but its coming down to the time I need to decide how much cam I am gonna want, now Ive heard a theory that may work which is unplug an injector clip (anymore and it may run terrible) which would dilute the air going to the smog sensor. Just trying to get a few opinions of someone who does smog testing or anything if this could actually help me pass with a large cam?
Re: Emissions and heads and cam
Do you have any friends in the inspection business?
I got my sticker already...car is almost done.
It really helps to know people...I built my car with the mentality of "no matter where I go, there's always someone to pay off"
How far is Plano from San Angelo?

Ieah I do know people who will/have I just dont want to be stuck having to pay someone off, and what if they/I move. I have 2 friends about to be inspectors but they wouldnt be willing to do something like that, there is a lot to lose and you are watched unknowingly from time to time apparently.
BTW plano is just a couple miles north of dallas... where are you?

Re: Emissions and heads and cam
The best thing to do is keep all emissions equipment and use a cam about the same or smaller than the Hot cam. Unpluging a injector will dilute the exhaust somewhat, but it will also cause a bad miss. Most inspectors would fail a car for that alone. Federal emissions testing is getting tighter all the time. More and more states and counties are starting testing all the time.
Paying off inspectors is a childish answer. And it won't work in states like Delaware because you have to go to a state inspection station. Unless they let you test an entirely different car. It won't work. OBD II cars get the cable plugged in, their computer tests and verrifies numerous items including the VIN #.

Re: Emissions and heads and cam
Ok here goes my top secret for passing emissions in TX. Help a guy do a turbo kit and big injectors on a non chevy product. Could not pass emmissions SO we put a supertrapp baffle on the end with 20 disks whit the theory being they can't get an accurate measurment. No hole to stick the sniffer in! Well it worked like a charm! The inspector first held the probe at the end of the pipe, that is now solid
, then on the slots of the disk. Dont know if it actually passed or the guy was to embarassed to admit he couldnt get a reading. In any case the car was down the road with a shiney new sticker!

Re: Emissions and heads and cam
I wouldnt call it childish, just risky. I know there are tons of people in texas in the dallas area with nasty cams, there has to be someway other than paying someone off....
