Isopropyl Alchohol will help. Can be purchased at almost any auto parts store. Known as HEET comes in a red bottle. Use about two of them to a full tank of gas and you should go right through, also make sure you have a clean air filter.

I'll try it. do I put it in and run the whole tank out then refill and retest or do I test right after I put it in?

You want denatured alcohol, not isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl is dry gas, used for absorbing water. I suggust using 5 gallons of gas and 1 gallon of denatured alcohol.

how do I get denatured alcohol and how do I use it? mix one gallon with 5 gallons of gas then retest right after or do I need to run that whole tank through, refill and retest?

My dad and I are going to change the oil, clean the air filter and change plugs. Am I failing the test by enough to need to change my EGR valve and O2's?

Lowes and Home Depot sell denatured alcohol. You can test right after putting it in your tank. It's not a cleaning agent that needs to be run through the engine; it's fuel that doesn't generate any HC emissions.

If your car is near stock, my first move would be to replace the cat. If it hasn't been touched, it's probably bad by now.

i am using the magnaflow / car sound cat. it was only 70 for a high flow cat when i bought it online. i just tested in ohio with the pcmforless tune and it passed with plenty of room to spare.

Bad news. I retested and failed again. Before retesting, I changed my sparkplugs, oil, cleaned the air filter, ran 93 octane BP gas with octane booster and a gallon of denatured alcohol. Here are the new results:

25/25 TEST
HC read 101 limit 114 PASS
CO read 1.00 limit .63 FAIL
NO read 506 limit 796 PASS
RPM 2115 1250-2500 PASS

50/15 TEST

HC read 1.42 limit 117 FAIL
CO read 1.48 limit .65 FAIL
NO read 737 limit 879 PASS
RPM 1927 1250-2500 PASS

I think I might change my cat next but first I need to pick one. I want one that will be good for my emmissions but also make my car sound louder when paired with my flowmaster catback. Any advice will help. thanks

Yes, I would say they are some of the better cats on the market and you can't beat the price of them either.
