Emergency!

i need to know if i block off the air and egr with small things that arent really that tight on, will they shoot off on the highway or anything like that? its my bday today and wante this car on the road, i need to do this in the next 30 min. i have these little caps that have silicone around them, is that strong enough? or will the air or egr shoot it off?
thanks!

Re: Emergency!

Removing the EGR is fairly simple but I don't think I would trust these "caps" if they are not bolted down. Maybe someone else will chime in.....

By the way, Happy Birthday!

Re: Emergency!

For AIR, people say M18 to M22... I couldn't find anything to fit mine so I had the steel piece with the threads on the inside capped off on top, and threaded it on. Works perfectly.

For EGR, you have to block the hole on the header primary, and 3 holes on the back of the intake. Pretty easy to block off with plates/RTV. You need 1 plate for the header primary, 1 plate for where the EGR tube connected to the intake manifold, then 1 plate to cover the 2 holes where the valve was taken off.

Re: Emergency!

I may be wrong, but I don't think they will "shoot". Instead, If they are not tight, air can be sucked through them and affect O2's, causing car to run rich. Anyway, I think it's nothing terrible, but I wouldn't recommend driving like that for a long time

Edit: Happy b-day!

Re: Emergency!

If hes talking about the AIR tubes on the headers then as soon as he starts it up they are going to most likely come off, then hes going to have a nasty exhaust leak.

Re: Emergency!

I had just plugged mine with a bolt that was the wrong size originally. It wasn't very tight on there(passenger side). I started the car and the passenger side did 'shoot' out somewhere... I have no clue where it is now, though hehe.
