elliot heads
elliot heads
i have been in search for some heads for my car. i wanted to do something that would be better than porting my stock heads. ive seen quite a few people have the LE2 heads. i was wondering how that has worked out for them. i was thinking of doing the LE2.
Re: elliot heads
Depends on just how much modding you expect to do. Ported and polished stock heads, perhaps with 2" 1.57" valves work just fine if done correctly.
Ideal situation is probably CNC ported, because all the cyls will be the same (assuming the model cyl is maximized.) However, if you have a local or someone on this board who does "great" work, you'd be well advised to have them do the heads rather than a shop that claims they do "great" work.
The advantage of having a local do it (if they will let you) is too view the work in progress and when it is complete before you pay them. And you can tell them exactly what you want, but if it is a good shop with plenty experience, it's not a waste of time to listen to what they say, but also not to take their word for it if it grossly contradicts everything you have heard on this board or from someone who really knows the Lt1. Example, if they tell you you should have brass quides installed when your quides are fine, you might question that.
And, although it will cost more, it might be a good idea have them install the correct springs at the same time, to insure correct fit and installed height.
JMHO
