Electronic Spark Timing
I would like to know if anybody knows what electronic spark timing is open means? My car is running like crap, it has been eating coils, and a few weeks ago, I scanned it with an Auto X-ray scanner, and it told me that electronic spark timing is open.
Any answers would be much appreciated! It is a 1994 Trans Am, no code given, just electronic spark timing is open.

"Electronic Spark Control" is a "generic" description of the problem, typical of what you get out of Auto Xray, since it is intended for all GM cars, and not LT1 specific.
IN GENERAL.... the code was probably DTC 43 (there has to be a code, you don't just get a description on the AutoXray). On an LT1 that is failure of the knock sensor circuit - either the wire or the sensor.
I would verify the numeric code first to make sure... since I'm just guessing based on past experience.

I don't recall a code coming up when the scanner said electronic spark timing is open. The car has run like crap since then, even after I replaced the opti, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and ignition coil. I've had to replace two ignition coils since then, it is arching through the coil near the bottom where it mounts to the bracket. I think I may have to take it to a GM dealership to diagnose my problem. Also the car needs a new rearend gear now to, so I looking at quite a pretty penny.
Forgot to mention that it takes at least 3-5 seconds to crank the car when it is cold but when it warms up, and you shut it off for 5-15 minutes it cranks right up on the first turn of the key

The ignition control module was replaced about 4 months ago. When scanned with Auto X-ray the knock sensor reading is 230, is this too high? It feels like the car has no power when driving normally or cruisin, but when I punch it, it pulls hard, and when I rev it, there are no misses.
Looks like the coil is arching and found the two spark plug wires I just changed are arching, possibly because they are touching air tube, or power steering line, both metal.
