Electrical Issues

Hey Guys, Having some problems on my LT1 with the electrical system. Shocker huh

Could you tell me possible solutions to these problems?

1. Sometimes when I start the car the trip odometer resets.

2. Sometimes when I hit the brakes the "Check Gauges" light will illuminate for about a 1/4 second.

3. Every light dims for a second when I depress the brakes, maybe this is normal?

4. When I give it a little gas in park, when the RPM's drop back down to idle, the lights dim.

Any answers to these would be great!

Thanks!

Sound like low voltage. Check battery connections and all the major grounds and positive cables that you can see. You might want to have the battery and alternator tested.

Thanks Shoebox, I was kinda thinking the same thing. Only thing is, my voltage indicator on the dash shows about 14. My scan tool showed a 13.8?? Do these cars have a voltage regulator? I'll have the 2 tested though.

The voltage regulator is inside the alternator. That voltage sounds good, so I would concentrate on the connections. Take them off, clean them and tighten them back up.
