I don't think I'd put one on a daily driver.

I'm running a CSI on my daily driver. Only problem I've had with it was a melted fuse holder which cost me $15 bucks for a night of racing that I didn't get to participate in. Other than that, it works great.

Pros... nice finish, cheaper than a new WP, frees up a few horses

Cons... not a direct bolt/drop in part, you have to grind on the housing a bit (not bad or hard, just annoying)

What would be bad about putting one on a daily driver?

Yeah theyre only rated at 1200 hrs of use which usually averages out to around a year in a daily driven car. My friends only lasted 9 months. When they die the coolant temperature will suddenly climb and youll have to pull off the road instantly otherwise youll blow a headgasket.

Actually CSI rates their pumps at 3500 hours, or 50,000 miles of driving. Ive had mine for 18 months and love it, and will definitely get another when i replace the water pump in the future.

My friend had a CSI on his 97 a couple years ago and it was only rated at around 1200hrs, lasted 9 months. Maybe theyve improved them? The Meziere are pretty much the same from what I hear.

He definitely got good numbers. With a cai and the CSI he put down 280rwhp through an auto.

I have the CSI in my daily driver and like it. Cheaper than mezeire, but harder to install b/c of tabs. Ive had zero problems for about 8 months.

My dads 383 imp SS has the mezeire in it for almost 2 years and only problems he has had is a melted fuse holder.

yeah i'd really like to put one on to free up some horses, but man i just dont wanna replace later.....its a serious daily driver only goes to track like 3-4 times a year. Better roll with a new stocker....are the rebuilds on those good? like the autozone ones?

i still dont know:

"The ad for this pump states that it is suitable for street use, and is rated at 2500 hours. I figthat if I drove the car for 2 hours a day, every day for a year, it would last for over 3.4 years at that rate. That's longer then my factory pump lasted! "

I'm running one on my car with no problems at all. Infact I have it wired to a bypass switch with my fans so I can sut the car off and leave the fans and waterpump on to cool the car off.

I've had it on my car for ~12K miles with no problems at all, still works like the day it was installed. You amy want to aslo look into the Diode indicator circuit if you're worried about it failing, that'll let you know if theres a problem with the waterpump before the temps start to rise.

I have a CSI and have not had any problems with it. I would say it has been on the car for 7 months. I put a water temp in a guage pod so I can keep a closer eye on it. with a 160* thermo it stays dead on 180*with the fans reprogramed. I do drive mine every day too.

I got a CSI water pump...actually "Felt" a noticable difference. For 135.00bucks you can't really go wrong. Don't worry about having one die on you. You can always rig up an activation light to let you know when it's on. It's a good performance mod/ efficiency mod. When you pull that old piece of crap steel fan you can't help but wonder why you didn't in the first place.
