Were tring to get the guts out of the old water pump. It was only on the car for a couple months. I cant get the guts out. I tried 2 different pumps, and even used a press, to no avail. How have you guys gotten the guts out of your pumps??

Re: Electric Waterpump Problem

You need a Hyd press, otherwise you can stress fracture the waterpump.

I used a punch and a nice hammer. I didnt know if it was suppost to come out that way, so I didnt want to damage it.

Ya got to drive it from the right way and what you see may not be right. Try it the other way.

Re: Electric Waterpump Problem

Pull the inspection cover, heat the impeller with a propane torch, knock out the shaft with a punch and hammer. Should take about 3 whacks.
