Thanks for the info.

Where do you live now? I just moved to Indiana, eventually I plan on moving back there though. Great little town.

Good: They free up around 5-10rwhp due to less drag on the motor, biggest gains on the top end. Easier to replace when they go bad. Relatively cheap compared to a stock wp.

Bad: They don't typically last as long as the stock wp. When they do fail, they stop working completely and your stuck. With the stock pump when fails it starts to go slowly and you usually see signs before it dies and it won't leave you stranded.

For a daily driver I would stick with the stock one.
For a race car, weekend warior etc. the electric is a good choice.

Exaclty. Well put. I wanted an electric for the longest time, and now I am glad I put a new stocker in just to be safe.

The way I see it is that the water pump is a peice on your LT1 you want to be a solid part. Not one that might go bad prematurely or frequently. I think if you want to make power, make it on items like CAI or headers or N20 or Cam. Let the water pump be something you dont have to worry about and let the opti be your only component that might cost you reliability.

I was going to order an MEZ pump last month and got to thinkin, If/When this thing fails.....it's gonna stick me on the side of the road somewhere, it aint gonna break in the drive way. I plan on keeping the Z for a long time and I would hate to have my wife get stuck in the middle of no where cause of 5hp.

But dangit......see my sig. I might get into the 12's if I put one on!
