electric water pump wiring to fuse block. got a question

i wired my mezeire up tonight. used the relay and fused wires, etc. i wired it to the ignition fuse in the block and it works. my question is...can i hook the wire up to the air pump fuse instead? i no longer have the air pump hooked up so it's a wasted power source right now. I've heard of wiring it to the ignition, ac/cruise fuse, and the fan fuse, but can i hook it to that? i'm looking for the best way to wire it. i don't want ti do it to the ac/cruise fuse because i have and use both on occasion. also was leary of wiring it to the fan fuse because my fans are on a manual switch and I'm not sure if it still gets power or not?

You could use the AIR pump fuse. Are you using it for relay coil power or for the power to run the pump?

Re: electric water pump wiring to fuse block. got a question

its running from the fuse block to the relay. it's providing the power to the pump i believe. i have a wire running from my 12volt source into the relay, powering the relay. then i have a wire running from the relay to the ground (on chassis), another into the fuse block from the relay, and the last wire runs from the pump wire(blue) to the fuse block. i've got it woking so the pump turns on when the key is in the run position. this isn't a problem, but the ignition fuse is only a 10 amp, as well as the fan fuse. the air pump is a 20 amp fuse and i no longer have an air pump leaving all the power for the waterpump only.

also, what is a good way to tap into the the powersource in those fuses in the fuse block. right now i have a flat connector sitting against the flat prongs of the fuse. it's shoved into the fuse block with a friction fit. its working well for now. it's difficult to pull out, butit can be done and i don't want any vibrations wiggling it out over time. ??

no, and if you want to be safe, unplug the air pump, won't hurt anything

i thought the airpump was always running? i no longer have an air pump, so there's nothing to unplug.

The fuse stays powered, it's just the pump that turns off (via a relay). Power at the fuse is not going to shut off (except when you turn off the key).

Use a bridge connector to tap into the wire underneath the fuse box if you want a secure connection...or splice and solder.

I am wiring up my EWP right now and just wanted to make sure I have the right idea here. My Meziere pump was an inline fuse, and I can just take that line and splice into the air pump fuse in the box, correct? (I no longer have my air pump either). I can just do this and do not need to buy and other relays or anything if I pick up power from the air pump fuse, correct?

Wow! That was a lot more complex than I was expecting. That write-up is based off a 94 (OBD-I) and my car is 96/'OBD-II. Would that make a difference? Also what would be WRONG with just hooking the WP with its inline fuse to the Air Pump fuse? Wouldnt my EWP still go on with the key turned and go off if it is removed?

Yes ,but the pump draws more amperage, it would run better if you used a relay.
The air pump hot wire only powers up the relay which..... relays the power to the pump
