electric water pump and timing chain?
If i was to put an electric water pump on my 93 lt1 would that open up my selections when choosing a good timing chain. I was thinking about running an electric water pump anyways but i was just wondering if that would allow for more selections of timing chains.
In a 93 not really because of the splined opti drive.
The stock chain is stout and removing the WP load takes 11hp of load off it at 6000rpms only making it more reliable.
Do not buy into the "have to have a stronger chain" stupidity. If you want to use something else that is fine but do not go believing you need to because you do not.

Im know im really new to lt1s, good with older motors though, but what is the difference in a vented and non vented opti's. Is there some kind of write up or something so i can learn a little more? thanks
so do yall think I need a stronger than stock chain. Of course it would be a new stock chain but do i need a stronger chain for a lt1 383 stroker that will have a supercharger? Hopefully around 600 hp. oh yeah it would be a set(gears and chain?
If I was pushing 600 HP, I would probably convert to a vented opti, electric water pump and a double roller set like Cloyes 9-3145 or a Rollmaster for piece of mind.
