Electric water pump fuse getting hot
Electric water pump fuse getting hot
Anyone have any ideal of what would cause the in line fuse in an electric water pump to get hot? I've had the pump for about 4-5 years and occasionally the fuse will over heat and pop. The in line fuse, the way I have it set up is in line between the pump and the relay. So there is basically one hot wire running from the pump to the fuse then to a relay that allows the pump to come on with the ignition. The wire from the pump to the fuse is getting hot as well as the fuse, but not the wire that jumps the fuse to the relay. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

Sounds possible, but doesn't explain why only the wire segment before the fuse heats up, and why it's intermittent. The only reason that could be happening is if the wires are different or there is a short to ground at the fuse. Can you get a clamp-on ammeter around each of them? This will tell you current draw through each and through the pump as well.
Re: Electric water pump fuse getting hot
Talked the tech guy at CSI/CSR and he said he thought it was a drag on the pump making working harder, which is kinda what I was starting to think. He said to send it in for warranty work. $60 tops. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
