Electric Cutouts are the best EVER

I had/have true duels, and was constantly being pulled over for them at night. So I got 2 qtp e-cutouts, and a stock 98 z28 single tip catback. Me and my brother welded up the catback, Including customizing everything around the muffler due to me having a supmed fuel tank(yeah it was a bltch). And put the 2 cutouts on each side of my duels. I now have it so all the exhaust is routed thru one side of the x-pipe while closed, and while open each side is right after the x-pipe. Its AMAZING. The sound is like night and day in less than 4 seconds. My friend was driving with me yesterday and we pull up to a light w/ the cutouts open, we see a cop 2 lanes over so I close them up, and my friend just looks over to me with the most stunned look on his face, because due to the 98 catback the car is silent besides the VERY small leak in the cutouts. He proceeded to tell me that it was the coolest thing hes ever seen. BOY DO I LOVE THEM

I want to do something similar. I have a magnaflow exhaust and love the looks, but I want something quiter, for most of the time. What can I do to quite it down, and then add a cutout?

to quiet your exhaust down.... hmm maybe adding a bullit muffler somewhere along your I-pipe, you shouldnt lose to much if any ground clearance, and might help a bit, then put the cutout right before your cat, if you have one, if not that would be a nice spot for a bullit.

Im in massapequa, not to far from garden city

Yeah, I'm definately loving my cutout. I don't get hasseled by cops (so far I've left it open for a week), but it's great to close it, pull up next to someone, and right before you race open it up (the reaction is priceless). Thanks for the cutout m0nk .

I purchased a NOS throttle switch and am going to wire it in so I can pull up to a race with them closed, and not even have to worry about hitting a switch, as soon as I go WOT they will open. Its still in the works thou, I have many things to worry about before I can put that damn bracket on.

It's funny how once a topic comes up it seems to spring up a few more times immdiately after. Third post on this tonight

IMO a bullet won't lower your soundlevel much at all. For me it changed the tone and quality a little but didn't do much at all for the soundlevel. You need something else if your looking for significant sound reduction.

btw, sounds like a cool trick setup with the true duals

all products are right on that page, you pick what size you want depending on your exhaust diamater, and your set.

how durable are they? I like that you can tune it, open it however much you want. I'm considering it tired of the wrench..although I can do it in 3 minutes and save 260 bucks for my dual cutouts...hell that's a cam.......lol

Well, I have heard the QTP's are really good. If I ever get another one, it will be from them.

I have a MCord on there right now, and it has been on for less than 2 years. Keep in mind this is a show car, not a daily driver.

Well, back in July, it just stopped closing. It is permantely open,
and the little LED light will sometimes come on, and most of the time it is off. It comes on and off during driving, like if I hit a small
bump in the road or something!

VERY annoying. Something isn't working, b/c when the car is off, and the key in the ON position, you can't even hear it working.
I had to replace gears one time. So, it didn't take much for it to completely be a useless piece of crap.

A couple of my friends in the club have them to, and they broke before mine did.

Oh well

Well I have only had them on for 2 weeks, but I have bottemed them out a bunch of times pulling into parkinglots before I got a hang of how sideways I had to go up them. But they still work perfectly. BTW if you do it correctly you shouldn't have clearance issuses, I have had the clearance problem before I put them on, and actually gained more clearance with them because of the removal of the bullits.
