EGR valve question ASAP

Hey guys. If I just leave the EGR valve in the intake, unplug it, isn't it then just like a plug? I would rather do that then spend time fabricating a block off plate. What is the easiest way to block off that air tube that goes from the header to the intake? I want to remove the EGR valve, and I broke the EGR solenoid when I pulled the intake, so don't feel like buying it too. Thanks guys, I am waiting to put the intake back on.

I don't think that is going to work. Remove the entire thing, if you have to go try summit or kragen for block off plates. The valve is still going to move if you leave it on there. The way I sealed my egr pipe to the heads was with about a 22mm bolt, I cut is short to about 1/2" and the put some sealer on it and screwed it in. good luck.

Thank you. So for the pipes, you just cut the pipe short, then put that 22mm bolt in with a sealer and screwed it in? That sounds like it could work, kinda like a vacuum plug.

yes, but I only cut the bolt short not the pipe. I left the pipe so I could hock it back up if need be.

If you leave the EGR on there without the vacuum supply from the solenoid, it will act just like a block off plate, as you said (as long as it is sealing well, internally).

I have no reason to suspect it was not. What are the symptoms of a bad EGR valve? Thanks.

If you're going to need some plates, I've heard this is a good site to get them from...
