EGR valve
EGR valve
What is the significance of removing the EGR valve and the Air Pump system. I have read in many posts on this board and on others that many people have removed these things mainly for looks but I was wondering if there were any harmful side effects of removing these things. Thanks alot in advance.
Blocking EGR keeps hot exhaust gasses out of the intake manifold ad therefore it runs cooler and helps keep it a lot cleaner. The EGR and AIR clutter the engine bay and make an already cluttered engine bay a lot worse. Most say removing those 2 components helps a lot and opens up a good amount of space. Mine are gone when I get my LTs. No side effects at all that hurt performance.

Second, what anaik said.
Third, the PCM lightens the fuel delivered during EGR duty cycle. If you have it blocked off with the stock cam, you'll likely have a lean condition during EGR duty cycle, both generating above acceptable levels of NO2, while failing emissions (which may or may not matter for you).
Regarding the AIR pump: I'd say yank it (The AIR pump) if you aren't running CATs. If you plan to keep the CATS, the AIR system will assist in heating the CATs quickly at a cold start. Pulling the AIR system could clog the CATs up over time.
As formerly stated, neither of these systems rob you of HP at WOT.
I hope this helps.
