EGR soda can mod?? help
EGR soda can mod?? help
I found a website that said i can make a block off plate for the egr VALVE with an aluminum can... I thought there would be too much heat generated that it would melt it... can i do this or not. I dont have the money for the rest of the block off plates.. everything is blocked off but that.

You wouldnt need to worry about heat melting it becuase you dont have exhaust flowing into your intake anymore.

I already have the tube blocked, i just need the valve blocked. I was thinking that with the heat off the intake alone would melt it. not to mention the air pressure in the intake i thought it would make a hold through it. Should i make a gaskt for it and then trace the egr valve since i have it out right now, or should i just stuff it full of jb weld and put a flat block ontop of it so it stays level and then put it back on? problem is i dont have any jbweld
You're gonna seal off a port into the intake with a soda can?
Why make potential trouble for yourself? If the block off for the EGR leaks, you wil have symptoms just like a stuck open EGR valve. If your EGR valve is stil on there and no vacuum lines are connected to it, it is basically a big, ugly block off plate (assuming it is not already stuck open). No need to do anything if you are so strapped for cash.
Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

I have all the vacume lines still connected to it... I was going to leave it on there and keep the lines connected but just block it. I have a very ruff idle and my car is throwing code 32 no light though.. scaned it and it says egr and no other problems, just changed the map sensor and rebuilt throttle body... recently started AFTER i put the headers on WHEN i disconnected the egr feed tube.it didnt do it after the header install only when i got around to removing the egr feed tube. my friend had the same problem and said it was the egr still being there and when he blocked it, it fixed, so im all gunho about blocking this darn thing.lol
