Egr Remove

When you take the EGR valve off what are you suppose to do with the vacum line that runs into the valve?

Re: Egr Remove

Put a vacuum cap at the manifold fitting or replace the fitting with a plug.

Re: Egr Remove

Why take off the EGR? It will not increase HP. It also can damage the engine by raising the combustion temps.

I don't know where you're shopping for EGR valves, but mine went out 2 months ago, and I got one from O'Reilly's for $50. I'm with Robs97Z28, it's not really worth it. You get no power, and it's not that much more expensive. Pay another $25-30 more than what block-off plates would cost, and you'll get the peace of mind of knowing you're not going to start getting detonation. Just my $.02

You can if you plug it at the manifold. Of course, you aren't guaranteed that your PCM will not throw codes for having the EGR missing.
A new valve is only $43 at dealer wholesale and $85 retail.

If you are tired of dealing with codes then getting rid of it won't solve your problem. The PCM will still throw a code since it is missing. If you are bent on getting rid of it you more than likely will have to get it tuned out of your PCM. You can get a tune from several people on the board that will give you more power/torque, get rid of your EGR and what ever else you don't want. If I remember correctly it would be around $125. Yes that is more than a new EGR, but you are actually getting something in return instead of getting rid of your SES light.
