EGR removal and resistor in MAP

Hi,

as i have bought Pacesetter LT with no provision for EGR , i made a search on how to remove EGR from my car.

My question is that I don't want an SES light from this removal and someone in the forum told you can fool the sensor using a resistor.

Does anyone can explain me what to do ?

I have a 96 Z28. AIR is already removed without code.

Have the EGR function programmed out of your PCM.

Yes,

nice info. It seems someone made an EGR simulator but it has given the trick only by e-mail.

Does anyone has the info for me ?

Thanks

Re: EGR removal and resistor in MAP

I used a car alarm relay.
The side that triggers the relay is hooked to the 2 wires running to the egr solenoid. It doesn't matter which wire you hook to which side.
The other side of the relay is connected to the center and rear of the MAP sensor with a 75 ohm or 2 150 ohm resistors in parallel spliced into one of the wires.
So when the pcm commands the egr to open it is actually engaging the relay which puts the 75 ohm resistance across the center and rear MAP wires fooling the pcm into thinking the correct amount of pressure has changed.
This worked for me for about 4 months then my MAP sensor went and had to be replaced. I don't know if it was related.

If you have LT-1 Edit for OBDII, the easiest thing to do is to toggle the SES light to the off position for the PO400 code.
I noticed the EGR monitor would read ready even if the 400 code was thrown so I just turned it off by going to edit / engine/ hardware verification. Pull up the PO400 code and toggle the SES light to off.
Your monitor will reset within 50 miles and no light will be thrown.

Best thing to do is just get a mail order tune. Get a few horse power out of it plus no ses light. Thats what I am gonna do.

www.carputing .com

LT-1 Edit is 550.00 for OBDII for 1 PCM.

I think Tunercat for OBDII is 380.00
but I don't have any experience with it.

Check out www.PCMforless.com You can get a "load it yourself" tune for $75. You just need a laptop and an interface cable to do it. Or you could use a PC if you can get it close enough to the car.
